Our Story
Farmers’ Leaf Market & Café began with a vision to create a space where local farmers and small businesses can connect with the community while providing food options that we can feel great about.

The mission is simple – build community while providing delicious and nutritious food staples from local farmers and small businesses that are making food items the way they used to be – ingredients you can actually pronounce, small-scale production, and community-focused.

With loads of determination, a bit of luck, and a community hungry for this type of space, the team at Farmers’ Leaf are working day and night to turn this vision into reality. We are constantly evolving and finding great products to bring into the store.

The Farmhouse Café
Your next great Cochrane café experience is right inside
Farmers’ Leaf.
The café is built on a 'from scratch’ concept with Cochrane's favourite sourdough, dessert and catering family, My Purple Pantry, at the helm. The menu includes delicious sandwiches
on their freshly baked bread,
gorgeous soups, crisp salads and speciality coffees and teas, hot or cold.
And the desserts...well, there simply
are no words, You have to come in and try them yourself.
Our Production Hub
Super Donkey Acres, the flagship and OG vendor at Farmers’ Leaf, has two production areas at the store.
On one side of the store we freeze dry fruit, ice cream and few other specialty items known as Mighty Bites which you are welcome to sample.
The other side is home to an indoor ‘grow-space’ for fresh microgreens.
Our microgreens are cut fresh and packaged in 2oz and 4oz boxes you will find in the fridge. We grow broccoli, kohlrabi, arugula, sunflower, peas and a few custom mixes too. ​​
We love local and we love our community
Opening a brick and mortar location in beautiful Cochrane, AB has been a joyous whirlwind. It’s been almost two years and we are still learning everyday, making new friends with locals, visitors, and producers.
Your feedback has been so appreciated and key to our growth. We are thrilled to be able to build a space where folks can sip, eat, laugh, debate, and shop all under one roof.
While the business is new-ish, the building is not-ish but it has a certain charm that our regulars cherish. The layout has changed since we first opened and continues to evolve with each new fridge or set of shelves, but what remains is our two production areas; one for freeze drying our Mighty Bites and the other for growing a continuous crop of fresh microgreens.

The rest of the space is shared by the market and the Farmhouse Café, operated by our friends at My Purple Pantry, famous in Cochrane for their sourdough and desserts.
The result is a unique space that is easy to navigate and provides a cozy spot for lunch or coffee with a friend.
